Amazon has introduced a slew of products at a hardware event. Needless to say, the majority of new releases are Echo devices. Interestingly Amazon has also announced their foray into headphones space with Echo Buds. The new Echo Buds are truly wireless and are powered by Bose noise reduction technology.
As expected the Echo Buds are deeply integrated with Amazon Alexa. All you need to do is say “Hey Alexa” and the Echo Buds will double up as a traditional Echo. That being said, Amazon has been offering Alexa features on many wireless headphones, however, this is the first time the company is launching its own headphone.
In order to differentiate from the other products, Echo Buds will come with a few exclusive features. You will be able to ask Alexa whether your nearest Whole Foods store is stocking your product. What’s more, you can also check out the aisle number and the section of the store. In other words, Amazon is keen on offering an Alexa based device wherever you go.
The Echo Buds feature two balanced armature drivers. Furthermore, the noise reduction can be toggled by using tap gestures. The buds are rated with IPX4 which is enough to protect your device from occasional splashes or sweat. As far as the battery is concerned, Echo Buds are rated to offer up to 5 hours of battery life with a single charge and you can increase the same to 20 hours with the help of a case. They are sweat-resistant and come with 3 sizes of ear tips and wing tips.
Amazon Echo Buds are priced at $129 and the preorders have already begun. Amazon’s website says that the Echo Buds will be released on October 30. Needless to say, the Echo Buds will rival Apple’s AirPods once it goes on sale.
