While Apple isn’t too positive about the first fiscal quarter of 2019, it sounds like the App Store continues to be a huge bright spot for the company.

On Thursday, Apple officially announced that the App Store had a record-breaking holiday, with a ridiculous amount of money being spent in the digital storefront on New Year’s day. The holiday break saw customers spend upwards of $1.22 billion between Christmas Eve and New Year’s eve. And then, on New Year’s day, customers spent $322 million in just one day. That sets a new single-day record for the company.

“The App Store had a record-breaking holiday week and New Year’s Day. The holiday week was our biggest week ever with more than $1.22 billion spent on apps and games, and New Year’s Day set a new single-day record at more than $322 million,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Thanks to the inspiring work of our talented developers and the support of our incredible customers around the world, the App Store finished off an outstanding 2018 and kicked off 2019 with a bang.”

Apple also reiterates that the App Store is just one part of many in the company’s services division that continues to see gains across the board. Cloud Services, Apple Music, Apple Pay, and the App Store’s ad search business are doing very, very well. Apple says that gaming and self-care were the most popular categories within the App Store over the holiday season. And globally, both Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds “were among the top downloaded games over the holidays”.

So, it’s not all bad news for Apple, even as the stock market continues to beat Apple’s stock prices to a pulp ahead of the company’s first quarter earnings call later this month.
