Apple is making its discounted battery replacement program available immediately for customers of iPhone 6 and higher across the world. In its initial statement, Apple had mentioned that the discounted battery program would be available from late January.

In a statement issued to TechCrunch, Apple says that while it expected to take more time to prepare for the program, it will now be able to offer the discounted pricing to customers right away.

We expected to need more time to be ready, but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away. Initial supplies of some replacement batteries may be limited.

Apple will be offering a $50 discount on the battery replacement program for iPhone 6 owners and above throughout 2018. This will bring down the price of the battery replacement cost for iPhone 6 and above from $79 to $29.

Apple has reduced the iPhone’s battery replacement cost after it accepted the fact that it slows down older iPhones due to their aging batteries. The revelation led to the company receiving a lot of criticism and being the subject of many lawsuits. Apple will also be rolling out a software update in January 2018 that will provide users with more details about the health of their phone’s battery.

If you plan on getting the battery of your older iPhone replaced, you should ideally wait for a few weeks as there is likely going to be heavy rush initially.
