While we eagerly wait for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 or later, it is good to see jailbreak developers continue to release new jailbreak tweaks and updates for their jailbreak tweaks with support for Apple’s latest mobile operating system.

BrightVol is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to control brightness using the iOS device’s volume buttons.

While there have been a few jailbreak tweaks that offer similar functionality, the developer of BrightVol has cleverly incorporated an Activator action that allows to use the volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume or to control brightness.

You can switch to brightness controls by double pressing both the hardware volume buttons (You can change this default Activator action via the Activator app). The volume buttons switch back to the default functionality after 30 seconds of inactivity.

The jailbreak tweak doesn’t install an icon on the Home screen.

Check out the video walkthrough of the jailbreak tweak below:

This is quite a neat jailbreak tweak if you don’t rely on the auto-brightness feature and tend to manually change the brightness.

BrightVol is available for free on Cydia.
