Amazon has announced an ad-supported tier of Amazon Music to take on Spotify and Apple Music. The free version of Amazon Music will be available to customers who don’t have an Amazon Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited membership.

Amazon is not providing free users with access to its entire music library though. It is providing them with access to top playlists and “thousands of top stations.”

Up until now, Amazon had been providing free access to Amazon Music to Echo device owners. Amazon already bundles Amazon Music with its Prime subscription so this new ad-supported tier is for customers who have not subscribed to Prime.

For now, the free version of Amazon Music is only going to be available in the U.S., UK, and Germany. It will also be available to customers using the Amazon Music app on iOS, Android, FireTV, and the web.

A couple of months ago, Amazon had launched Amazon Music HD offering lossless music streaming for $14.99/month.
