If you had jailbroken your iOS device running on iOS 5 and held off upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 Dev team’s advice then you’re probably getting annoyed by the push notification badge for the over-the-air (OTA) update on the Settings app that constantly serves as a reminder that you haven’t upgraded.

Not any more as a jailbreak tweak can remove the update badge.

A new jailbreak tweak in Cydia called noOTA badge removes the push notification badge for the OTA update on the Settings app.

You can follow these simple steps to clear the OTA update badge:

  • Launch Cydia
  • Tap on the Search tab and type noOTA
  • Select noOTA badge from the search results
  • Tap on the Install button
  • Then tap on Confirm button, which will install the tweak

That’s it, you should no longer see the OTA update badge on the Settings app.
