Early last year, Apple settled various class action lawsuits related to the iPhone 4’s antenna issues, offering $15 as a payout to affected users. First responders to the lawsuit, who didn’t want or receive the free bumper Apple promised, have now started receiving their $15 settlement checks.
To be eligible for the cash payment, you must have: (a) experienced antenna or reception issues; (b) been unable to return your iPhone 4 without incurring any costs; (c) been unwilling to use a case or free bumper for your iPhone 4; and (d) completed certain troubleshooting steps or are unable to complete the troubleshooting steps because you no longer own your iPhone.
The first lot of checks were issued on the 17th of this month, and must be cashed by the 16th of July, 2013. As we noted at the time of the announcement, the settlement is only for folks in the U.S.

Antennagate, if you don’t remember, was a widely talked about issue right after the iPhone 4 launched, where the device would lose signal if held in a certain way. Apple had to call a special press conference and promise free bumpers or offer a no cost return to appease iPhone 4 owners.
If you applied for the settlement, do let us know in the comments below if you’ve received the $15 check.
