Lightning EarPods fake leak

Rumor has it that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will drop the 3.5mm headphone jack, and Apple will move to the Lightning port for its headphone solution.

Or have folks go wireless, which, for some, already have. However, for the people who prefer to have a wired connection when listening to music, Lightning EarPods have been rumored for awhile now. At the same time, a rumor cropped up recently that suggested Apple would launch the iPhone 7/7 Plus with 3.5mm EarPods, but also include a Lightning adapter to use with the new iPhone.

That particular rumor doesn’t make a lot of sense, so many people are expecting Apple to launch Lightning EarPods with the upcoming iPhones. Back in March the internet became privy to an image that reportedly showed off what Lightning-equipped EarPods would look like, but there was some question to the headphones’ validity.

These new images, which surfaced on the Chinese social network, Weibo, probably won’t help much. They appear to show Lightning EarPods, with the familiar design certainly intact, but with at least one notable exception: The Lightning plug appears to be quite a bit thicker than what Apple already has out in the wild. This probably means the headphones are fake, or at least a knockoff, and not what Apple will actually bundle with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus later this year.

Do you think Apple is going to include Lightning EarPods with the new iPhones?
