If you have gone through the detailed spec sheet of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, you’d notice that Apple says they have the same battery life as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Ideally, this would have meant the handsets have the same or almost the same batteries as their predecessors.

However, TENAA listing of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus confirms that the devices come with 1821mAh and 2675mAh batteries, respectively. This is a fair bit smaller than the 1960mAh battery found inside the iPhone 7 and the 2900mAh one found inside the iPhone 7 Plus. Despite such a huge reduction in battery size, Apple claims that the new iPhones offer “about the same” battery life as their predecessors — a bold claim indeed.

The switch to a more power efficient A11 Bionic chip, LCD display, and improvement in other key areas on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus should make up for some of the lost battery capacity. However, under heavy use, the smaller battery capacities of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus would definitely end up impacting their overall battery life.

On the flip side though, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus do come with fast charging which allows them to be charged from 0-50% in just 30 minutes. This means that even if your new iPhone is struggling to make it through the day, you just need to charge it for a few minutes to ensure it lasts for a few more hours.

The TENAA listing also confirms the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature 2GB and 3GB RAM, respectively. This was previously revealed by multiple leaks as well.
