Amazon has launched a new Kindle that is specifically built for kids. The Kindle Kids Edition was launched alongside Fire HD 10 Kids Edition tablet. This is the first time Amazon has come up with a Kindle meant for kids. Amazon is also offering colorful cases for $20 and is bundling in two-year warranty and one-year free access to FreeTime Unlimited service.

The two-year warranty will cover spills or any other damages. In other words, Amazon will replace the Kindle free of cost for the first two years. FreeTime Unlimited subscription offers access to thousands of kid-friendly books and videos. FreeTime Unlimited costs $4.99/month, however, you will get a one-year free subscription with Kindle Kids Edition.

As expected Amazon has baked in new features on the Kindle Kids Edition. To begin with, the Kids Edition comes with Word Wise which will automatically define tough words, the new feature will work alongside the Kindle dictionary. Word Wise is already offered on Kindle, however, the one on Kids edition detects difficult words automatically. Furthermore, kids can view the looked-up words in the form of flashcards. Amazon has gamified the reading experience by offering achievement badges and new wallpapers.

Amazon Kindle Kids edition is priced at $109.99 and sits between the $89.99 Kindle and $129.99 Paperwhite. The Kindle Kids Edition can be preordered today while shipping starts from October 30th. If you feel that your kid is spending too much time on smartphones or gaming on PC, then perhaps the Kindle Kids Edition is the best way to infuse reading habits at a young age.
