At today’s MacBook Pro-focused event, the company also happened to show off, and promote, a new external display from LG.

Apple’s Phil Schiller was tasked with showing of the new MacBook Pro lineup, and, during the presentation, wanted to show off how plugging in external devices to the powerful laptop was a breeze, thanks to the four new USB Type-C ports. That included talking up a brand new 5K external display — that wasn’t built by Apple.

LG, the Life’s Good crew, created an external 5K display called the UltraFine 5K, and, according to Apple, it’s the best option when it comes to connecting a display of that nature to the new MacBook Pro. The company also said that they worked closely with LG to make this display the best option, so it sounds like it’s going to be that way for at least a little while.

Expectations that Apple would be launching its own 5K Cinema Display, at some point soon, have been going strong for a bit of time now. Rumors and reports have surfaced to help float those expectations, but, if this event is any indicator, that doesn’t look to be happening soon.
