Sonos is known for offering premium quality speakers that can stream music around your house. Up until now, the U.S based company stuck to its core offering of home audio systems and a smart speaker. Now the company has forayed into portable speaker segment with Sonos Move. The latest from Sonos is priced at $399 and is nearly ten-inch in height.

The Sonos Move will not only connect via WiFi but also offers Bluetooth connectivity. It comes with a charging base and a battery that is rated to offer 10 hours of playback. Furthermore, the charging base offers two pins that will allow you to connect the Sonos Move with the home audio system when not in use. Sonos says that the battery is good enough to last for 3-years and promised to offer a replacement as well. You also use the USB-C port to charge the portable speaker on the move.

On the audio front, the Move comes equipped with two Class-D amplifiers, single tweeter, and a mid-woofer. That apart, the Move also comes with IP56 water and dust resistance. A splash in rain shouldn’t really be much of a concern for this device. The Bluetooth 4.2 functionality means you can connect Sonos Move with a tablet, laptop, smartphone and much more.

Sonos Move borrows quite a bit from Sonos One and adds on portable functionality. This also means you can use the Move with Sonos app, Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2. Offcourse it supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The company seems to have fitted similar processor and hardware across its lineup and claims this will help developers. However, the best part is that Sonos supports all music streaming platforms unlike Amazon Echo and Google Assistant.
