When it comes to online streaming services, SoundCloud is one of the biggest, with 175 million monthly users, so it seemed logical that a subscription was coming at some point.

And in January of this year, after SoundCloud had managed to finalize licensing deals with the Universal Music Group (UMG), rumors cropped up almost immediately after that the service was indeed planning on launching a subscription option for those who wanted features like offline listening, and who didn’t want to hear ads anymore, either.

SoundCloud has made it all official with the latest update to its iOS app, which is now version 4.0.0. With it, SoundCloud launches “Go,” a subscription-based service that offers offline listening, as well as an ad-free experience, all for $10 per month. That’s the equivalent that Apple charges per month for its Apple Music, and what Spotify charges per month for its own service. Here’s what’s new in the update, and what you get with SoundCloud Go:

    What’s New in Version 4.0.0

Introducing SoundCloud Go. From major artists to upstart indies to your friend’s bedroom recordings, you can now listen to your favorite music and new discoveries, offline and ad-free.

Get SoundCloud Go and:

– Play all tracks
Access a newly expanded catalog of everything from Grammy-winners to garage bands

– Listen offline
Listen to your favorite tracks anytime, anywhere, with or without signal

– Go ad-free
Listen without any ad interruptions

Get it free for first 30 days, and $12.99/month after that.*

*Free 30-day trial only available for users who haven’t previously subscribed to SoundCloud Go. Trial must be canceled within 30 days of subscribing or will automatically renew for $12.99/month. Offer limited to users based in the U.S.

It should be noted that SoundCloud is charging $12.99 per month if you subscribe to the Go service through the iOS app or the App Store, due to the 30% cut that Apple receives. If you subscribe outside of these sources, it’s $9.99 per month.

SoundCloud Go is available right now, and it comes with a 30-day free trial for anyone that hasn’t already tried the subscription service. It’s only available in the United States right now, but that will probably change in due time. And for those that want to only use the free version of SoundCloud, that isn’t going anywhere, and those features and listening experience will stay the same.

Do you use SoundCloud, and if so, do you plan on subscribing?
