Right now, Spotify is one of the biggest names when it comes to streaming music platforms, with over 40 million paid subscribers.
And it looks like the platform is gearing up to launch a new tier for those who are willing to fork over a bit more per month to get even better audio quality. As The Verge reports, Spotify is currently testing the new tier in a very limited way with some users out in the wild.
The test is apparently dominantly geared towards figuring out a proper price point for the new feature, which is called Spotify Hi-Fi. Some users are reporting that Spotify is promoting the new tier for $5 more than the standard $10 per month plan, while others show that their jump to lossless CD quality audio will bump their price by $10 per month, on top of the $10 they already pay.
Some users, when prompted to sign up, are getting error messages, and others are being told it isn’t available for them just yet, so this is certainly a limited test. However, considering it’s already present in the real world indicates that Spotify is gearing up to launch it to the public soon.
