In early June of this year, T-Mobile announced their Un-carrier 5.0 initiative, which allowed potential subscribers to use an iPhone 5s for a period of seven days to try out the network (as well as the device). Now, T-Mobile plans on upgrading when they can.

In a statement sent to Re/code, the Magenta Network has confirmed that they plan on upgrading their Test Drive program to include iPhone 6 units when they become available. They point out that while they plan on bringing the iPhone 6 to the Test Drive initiative as soon as they can, the chances of that happening soon after the device’s public launch on Friday, September 19 are thin, as many of the carrier’s units will be reserved for customer purchase.

We don’t have a definitive timeline, but we do intend to switch over in future,” a T-Mobile spokesperson said. “There are a variety of factors that affect that timeline, (including) product availability.

What’s more, T-Mobile has also confirmed that they will be upgrading all of their iPhone 5s units within the Test Drive program to iOS 8 within days of the public release on Wednesday, September 17.

At the end of June, T-Mobile announced that their Test Drive program had seen 12,000 signups.
