The Clock app in iOS has a feature that allows you to view the time in different cities/timezones. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t provide a widget for the Lock screen to view the world clock without having to unlock your iPhone. As always, a new jailbreak tweak aims to solve this problem.
iOS 10 offers a handy feature that allows stock and third-party apps to add widgets to the Lock screen. It is a bummer that the Clock app doesn’t offer any widgets for viewing the world clock on the Lock screen. There are already third-party apps that can do this, but if you’re jailbroken, look no further than a tweak known as Temporal.
This new jailbreak tweak allows you to easily view the time in different cities directly from the Lock screen. The best part is that you don’t even need to go to the widgets page as the tweak is directly accessible from the main Lock screen view.
With the tweak installed, whenever you’re on the Lock screen, you can view the time in different timezones by swiping the Lock screen clock to the left or right.
The tweak displays the world clock based on the cities added to the Clock app. If you wish to add a new city, you’ll have to add it to the Clock app first and it will automatically be displayed on the Lock screen.
Temporal doesn’t offer any additional configuration and works right away after installation.
Viewing the world clock from the Lock screen is a very handy feature, but there are two specific features that I wish the tweak offered. First, there is no support for Notification Center, so every time you want to view the world clock, you have to go to the Lock screen which is a bit of a hassle. Secondly, rather than having to swipe the Lock screen clock to view the time in different cities, the tweak should also provide an option for viewing the world clock as a list.
Nonetheless, Temporal is a very nice tweak and if you wish to install it, it can be purchased for $1.15 from Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Let us know what you think about it in the comments below.
