We have some awesome tips for Mail.app app on iOS that’ll help you boost your productivity and improve your mail workflow.
Shortcut to access saved drafts
If you’re in the inbox screen and want to access drafts, you’ll have to go back one level and then choose “Drafts” but there’s a quicker way. Just long press the compose icon at the bottom right of the inbox screen and your Drafts list will appear.
Selective Quotes
At times you’d want to reply to a portion of the mail you received, but iOS by default quotes the contents of the entire mail when replying. You can change this by selecting the portion you want to reply to using the standard iOS text selection mechanism and then pressing the reply button. You’ll now see the selected text as a quote in the compose window.
Attach media from the compose window
Mail.app doesn’t give a direct button to insert attachments from the compose window, but if you long tap in the compose text field, you’ll see an option to insert a video or a photo (you’ll have to tap the right arrow to see the option). When you tap that, you’ll see the standard photo picker from where you can choose a photo or video.
See and retrieve more emails
If you get a lot of emails, most of which you don’t read but simply clear, you’ll find these two configurations very useful.
- You can tell Mail.app to download more than 50 mails (the default) from the server at once, so that you don’t have to wait every now and then when you scroll. To change the number of emails downloaded, you’ll have to go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Show.
- To fit more emails on the iPhone’s screen at once, you can reduce the preview size to none by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Preview
Move emails between CC,BCC fields
If you’ve typed an email address in the “To” field but want to move it to the BCC field, you can avoid cut/paste by simply long tapping on the email id you want to move, and then drag it to the required field.
