Yesterday, we showed you how to make Google Chrome the default browser on your iPhone and iPad using jailbreak tweak BrowserChooser by Ryan Petrich.
Another jailbreak tweak that allows you to change the default browser and more is jailbreak tweak Browser Changer, which we have covered earlier.
Developer of Browser Changer has now updated the jailbreak tweak to add support for Chrome.
Browser Changer offers two additional features: The first one is the ability to also open web clips (bookmarks that you add to the Home screen) in Chrome once you make it the default browser.
2. Browser Changer also has a SBSettings toggle (which needs to installed separately), so it allows you enable or disable the tweak from anywhere in the iOS, in case for any reason you want to switch back to Safari. You can check out this post for the instructions to change the default browser using Browser Changer.
Please note that Petrich has also updated BrowserChooser to add two more features 1. the ability to choose the browser when you open a link, 2. dynamically changes the “Open in Safari” text. He has also added support few more third-party web browsers.
You can also use SBSettings to hide the Safari icon (navigate to SBSettings -> More -> Hide Icons) if you want to remove any traces of Safari (don’t forget to respring SpringBoard after hiding it).
Let us know which tweak you prefer in the comments below.
