German website apfelpage.de reports that Deutsche Telekom has told its call center representatives to inform customers that the hotly anticipated iPhone 6 will be launched on Friday, September 19, to entice customers to stay back with the carrier.

The date is consistent with recent iPhone launches, but it looks like the German carrier is making an educated guess as it is highly unlikely that Apple known for its secrecy, will share the launch plans of the new iPhone with carriers so early.

Apple has historically launched new iPhone models on a Friday. Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on September 20th. It also launched the iPhone 5 in 2012 on September 21st.

If Apple does end up launching iPhone 6 on September 19th, then it would mean that iOS 8, which will be unveiled at next week’s WWDC Keynote, will be released to the public on September 17th, as Apple has been releasing major iOS software updates couple of days prior to the launch of the new iPhones.

Germany is usually one of the initial launch countries along with U.S., Australia, Canada, China, France, Japan, Singapore and the U.K.

Apple is widely expected to release two variants of the iPhone 6 this year, one with a 4.7-inch display and the second one with a 5.5-inch display. The iPhone 6 models may also feature an all-new ultra thin design, narrower bezels and rounded edges.

iPhone 6 is also expected to include Apple’s new A8 processor, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an improved 8-megapixel camera. The iPhone 6 will also come pre-installed with iOS 8, which may include new apps such as Healthbook, TextEdit and Preview, improved Maps, inter-app communication capabilities and more.
