One of the new features that Apple introduced with its newest iPhone lineup is the ability to edit depth in photos, and now the company is showing how to edit photos with the feature.

Apple on Friday published a video to their YouTube channel entitled “How to edit with Depth Control on iPhone”. The feature is available in the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR, and the video itself is pretty quick, measuring in at under 40 seconds. Still, in that length of time Apple does a pretty good job of showing how to quickly edit photo and add, or take away, the depth effect. Increasing or decreasing that bokeh can definitely change a photo.

To adjust Depth Control, owners of the appropriate iPhone model simply need to open a photo taken with the Portrait Mode feature, and then they will see the slider on the bottom of the photo after they select the “Edit” option. This will give editors the ability to choose aperture ranges between f/1.4 and f/16.

Adjusting the depth of a photo is available in two scenarios: While you are editing an already existing photo, or before you take the photo in Portrait Mode. You will need to be running iOS 12.1 if you want to choose the depth of your photos before you take them.
