AquaBoard for iOS 8

During the days of iOS 7, popular jailbreak developer Elias Limneos released an amazing tweak going by the name AquaBoard. As the name implies, the tweak adds amazing water effects to the Lock screen and the Home screen.

When you touch the wallpaper, icons, the lock screen, it creates the ripple effect on the SpringBoard. It feels as if your iPhone’s Home screen and Lock screen are covered with water. It was pretty cool. The good news is that the developer has now updated the tweak to support iOS 8 devices.

The ripple effects will appear on top of your current wallpaper and will be formed as soon as you touch the screen. It feels as if your iPhone’s Home screen and Lock screen are covered with water. You can choose from 10 different interestingly named animations such as Turbulence, Aqua Sphere, Waves, Shockwave, Unseen Absyss, Abstract Artist, Heavy Taps and Smudge Brush.

Once you install AquaBoard, you can configure it from its dedicated preferences pane available in Settings. There, you can enable or disable the tweak, toggle on or off ripple effects for the Home screen or Lock screen, choose the water animation and the FPS rate. The Frames per Second (FPS) option allows you to adjust the animation speed of the ripple effects.

The tweak also provides a rain effect which forms drops of rain on your wallpaper. From the pane, you can enable or disable rain mode and adjust its frequency. If the frequency is high, more rain drops will be formed on the screen.

AquaBoard has been tested to work with tweaks such as LockGlyph, Forecast, ColorFlow. Regarding the battery effect, it might have some impact depending on how much you use your iPhone daily.
