Did you ever wish you could import profile pictures of your friends from various different sources to the Contacts app without having to do it manually? If you answered yes to the question, you’ll probably be interested in a brand new jailbreak tweak known as AvatarSync.
Developed by Mordred, AvatarSync is a unique tweak that allows users to easily import pictures directly from various sources such as WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook to the Contacts app. It also supports Gravatar and allows you to download and use an image from a specific URL.
Once you install the tweak, a new standalone app will appear on your Home screen dedicated to AvatarSync. After opening it, you’ll view a list of all the contacts available on your device. Tapping on any of the contacts allows you to choose the source where you want to import the picture from, namely WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Gravatar or a specific image URL.
Interestingly, when you choose WhatsApp, the tweak is smart enough to automatically display an image that belongs to the chosen contact. If it’s not the one you want, you still have the option to go through your WhatsApp list and choose one.
On the other hand, if you choose to import a specific contact’s image from Facebook or Twitter, you’re required to enter their username. Once it has found the image corresponding to the username you entered, you can download and apply it to the contact.
With all this said, one of the selling points of AvatarSync is that it also has the ability to automatically match all the contacts from WhatsApp and import their corresponding images all at once without requiring you to do it individually. This feature can be accessed from the tweak’s ‘Multiple’ tab.
If you’ve been looking for such a tweak in the past, I’ll definitely recommend that you go ahead and give AvatarSync a try. The tweak is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repository for $2 and works on iOS 7 – iOS 8.1 devices, but to make use of the WhatsApp feature, you’re required to have iOS 8 installed.
