Brightness Activator Pro

When you want to adjust the brightness of your iPhone on a stock device, two options that exist are opening Control Center and using the brightness slider or navigating to the Settings app, tapping on the Brightness menu and adjusting the slider within. For jailbroken users looking to simplify this experience, a new jailbreak tweak called Brightness Activator Pro enables you to adjust an iPhone’s brightness with a simple gesture. We have an in-depth rundown of the tweak ahead.

Brightness Activator Pro allows for an iPhone’s brightness level to be adjusted with a swiping up or down gesture that is configured based on an Activator action. The tweak has a few options that can be enabled through the Settings app, including the ability to swipe left or right instead. As you would expect, when you swipe up or right on the screen, the brightness increases. Likewise, swiping down or left lowers the brightness.

If you want to return to the normal state of adjusting your iPhone’s brightness, simply perform a long hold of the Home button or the screen until a dialog box appears. Additionally, if your iPhone’s auto brightness feature is disabled, this tweak can even save brightness when the device is locked.

Watch this video of Brightness Activator Pro for a closer look at the tweak in action on an iPhone, as recorded by its developer:

Brightness Activator Pro can be fine tuned through its preferences menu in the Settings app, including the ability to disable the tweak on the Home screen and Lock screen or in certain apps, plus the option to disable the keyboard from showing. Activation methods can be configured using the Activator jailbreak tweak, which should come preinstalled with this tweak as a dependancy if you do not already have it installed.

Ultimately, this is not a revolutionary or extensive jailbreak tweak. Nevertheless, it is a simple extension that delivers useful functionality and does not negatively impact the overall performance or battery life of an iPhone. Brightness Activator Pro is 99 cents on Cydia in the default BigBoss repo.
