One of the best things about the Apple Watch is how it interacts with your iPhone. It’s a conduit to your phone, allowing you to check messages, interact with apps and even access system-level settings without pulling your iPhone out of your pocket. While you can do a lot on your Watch, you can’t do everything, and one missing feature is the ability to check the battery of your iPhone using your Watch.
This gap is where some developer ingenuity and a handy Apple Watch steps in to fill this need.
The Apple Watch app is called Power – Glance at battery life (iTunes link – $1.99), and it sits in the glances, allowing you to track your iPhone battery life from the Watch face. The Power Watch app isn’t fancy — it only displays a battery level and the battery percentage from your iPhone. It is basic, but that is all you need — any additional features would be overkill.
To install Power on your Watch, you first have to purchase and install the app from the iOS App Store. When the installation is complete, just follow the directions below to get up and running in just a few minutes.
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down to find the list of apps that can be installed on the Watch.
- Locate “Power” on this list, tap on it to access the app settings.
- Select both “show App on Apple Watch” and “show in Glances” to ensure they are activated.
Now you can just raise your wrist, swipe to the Power app Glance and monitor the battery life of your iPhone. If you want to read more about Power, check out our review of the Power app.
