The whole Cambridge Analytica fiasco has led to Facebook being the subject of many potential regulatory investigations and users worried about the social network’s data sharing practices. There’s also a movement going on over on Twitter with the #deletefacebook hashtag encouraging users to delete their Facebook profile for good.

And joining that movement is none other than one of WhatsApp’s co-founder, Brian Acton. Along with Jam Koum, Brian Acton founded WhatsApp which was acquired by Facebook for $16 billion in 2014. Acton is no longer associated with Facebook or WhatsApp as he quit earlier this year. Nonetheless, his tweet shows what the WhatsApp co-founder thinks about Facebook and their data sharing practices.

Facebook which has remained silent about the whole Cambridge Analytica issue has also finally issued a statement. Facebook says that Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, and their teams are working around the clock to take appropriate actions moving forward.

“Mark, Sheryl and their teams are working around the clock to get all the facts and take the appropriate action moving forward, because they understand the seriousness of this issue. The entire company is outraged we were deceived. We are committed to vigorously enforcing our policies to protect people’s information and will take whatever steps are required to see that this happens,” a Facebook spokesperson told The Daily Beast.

Facebook’s statements are unlikely to make its angry users calm. Everything now depends on what actions the company takes regarding this data breach and how much importance it gives to its users’ data going forward.
