If you’re using the latest version of PayPal on your jailbroken iPhone, you must be facing an issue with the app which causes it to crash immediately after launching. If you’re confused as to what is causing this issue, the main culprit is the jailbreak.
Apparently, PayPal has placed a piece of jailbreak detection code within their app that causes it to crash automatically after launching. This happens mainly to users who are using the latest version of the app.
A few weeks back, many users took to Reddit to complain about the suspicious activities taking place in their PayPal accounts after jailbreak their device, with some reporting that their money got stolen. Many suspected that the 25PP store associated with the Pangu jailbreak was the main culprit, but Pangu later reaffirmed that neither they nor 25PP have got anything to do with this.
This must be the main reason why PayPal is now preventing jailbreak users from using their official iOS app. If you’re also facing crash issues with the PayPal app on your jailbroken device, read the tutorial below to find out how to fix it.
Fix PayPal App Crashing on Jailbroken iPhone or iPad
Step 1: On your jailbroken iPhone or iPad, open Cydia.
Step 2: Navigate to the searches tab and search for a jailbreak tweak called PalBreak.
Step 3: Tap on Install -> Confirm to install the package onto your device.
Step 4: Once the installation completes, press “Restart Springboard” to restart your device and enable the tweak.
PalBreak fixes the crash issue in PayPal by disabling all the tweak installed on your iOS device as soon as you launch the app. This bypasses the jailbreak detection code in PayPal and prevents it from crashing.
Keep in mind that a jailbroken device is less secure than a non-jailbroken one, therefore it’s best that you refrain from accessing your bank accounts and confidential information from a device that is jailbroken. This is also the main reason why PayPal is using jailbreak detection in their app so as to prevent any security breach.
