Now that the iOS 9 jailbreak has been released, developers need to update their tweaks to work with the latest firmware. If you ever tried applying a Winterboard theme after jailbreaking your iOS 9 device, you must have noticed that it wouldn’t work. This is because WinterBoard is yet to receive an update to make it compatible with iOS 9.

Fortunately enough, there is a way that you can get it working on your jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch by following the step-by-step guide below.

Step 1: Launch Cydia and install iFile

Step 2: Download the Winterboard .deb file on your iOS 9 device and install it using iFile. Note: Make sure that you have already removed the previously installed Winterboard from Cydia before installing the .deb file.

Step 3: Now go to /applications in iFile and you should see winterboard.app. Tap on the exclamation mark next to it and rename it to winterboard1.app

Step 4: Install iCleaner from Cydia

Step 5: Once you install it, Cydia will also update Winterboard with it. If you already have it, simply launch the app and tap on the ‘Clean’ button.

Step 6: Respring your device

Step 7: Now navigate to /applications in iFile and rename winterboard1.app back to winterboard.app (this time without the ‘1’)

Step 8: Launch iCleaner and press the ‘Clean’ button. The tweak will update Winterboard again to reflect the changes made.

After following the above steps successfully, you should be able to get Winterboard working on your iOS 9 device. You can now go ahead and apply any themes that you have downloaded from Cydia.
