How to Prepare iPhone for iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak

Pangu recently demoed the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak for 64-bit devices and there are speculations that the jailbreak may be released as soon as next week.

iOS 10.3.1 is the latest signed firmware available for iOS devices, however, it won’t be long before the iOS 10.3.2 update is released as it is currently in its fifth beta. Given the imminent release of a new jailbreak and a new firmware update dropping soon, here’s how you should prepare your iPhone for an iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak.

How to Prepare your iPhone for iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak

Backup Your iPhone Using iTunes

Taking a backup of the important files and data on your iPhone is always a good idea and should be done regularly, especially when you want to go through the jailbreak process. This ensures that even if anything goes wrong during the jailbreak process, you still have a backup to restore from.

The first thing that you have to do before jailbreaking your iOS device is to take a backup of it using iTunes. If you don’t know how, then read this article:

Update to iOS 10.3.1 If Not Jailbroken

iOS 10.3.1 is the latest signed firmware that is currently available to most iOS devices. If you’ve already jailbroken your iPhone or iPad, then we would strongly recommend that you avoid updating to iOS 10.3.1 until the jailbreak is released. If that’s not the case and you’re residing on a firmware that can’t be jailbroken, such as iOS 10.3, then it is a smart move to update to iOS 10.3.1 now and be prepared for the jailbreak.

iOS 10.3.2 is currently in its fifth beta and would be released to the public very soon. The iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak is speculated to be released next week and if iOS 10.3.2 were to be released at the same time, users would still have a chance to upgrade to iOS 10.3.1 as Apple usually leaves the signing window open for a week or two before closing.

To update to iOS 10.3.1, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.

Save SHSH Blobs for iOS 10.3.1

Prometheus is a downgrade tool for iOS that allows users to downgrade or upgrade to a specific firmware only if the SHSH blobs for that firmware has been saved. By saving the SHSH blobs for iOS 10.3.1, you can use Prometheus to upgrade or downgrade to this firmware even after Apple closes the signing window for iOS 10.3.1.

Saving your iOS 10.3.1 SHSH blobs is quite easy and can be done using TSSSaver. Here’s an article on how to do it:

Wait Patiently For iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak Release

While Pangu hasn’t confirmed the exact release date of the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak, rumors have it that the jailbreak will be released as early as next week. While it can be frustrating that there’s no ETA on the jailbreak release, the best thing you can do is to stay patient and let the Pangu team do their work.

Pangu has already demoed the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak and sooner or later, the jailbreak will be released to the public.
