If you’ve ever pressed the Home button during a phone call, you must have noticed a larger Status bar colored green which shows the call duration. The same effect takes place when you’re recording a voice memo or tethering your mobile data as the Status bar will be colored either red or light blue.
If you’re interested to get rid of these stock colors and bring a new look to them, you should check out a new jailbreak tweak called Fairydust. It allows you to get rid of the boring colors by choosing a custom color for each of the different Status bars that appear.
Once you install Fairydust, navigate to the tweak’s preferences pane in Settings to configure it. From there, you can enable or disable the tweak via the kill switch toggle and you’ll find four options dedicated to call, navigation, recording and tethering Status bars.
Tapping on any one of them allows you to choose a custom color of your own. Interestingly, the tweak provides different ways of choosing a specific color. You can adjust the RGB sliders, choose a color from the RGB board or enter the HEX value of a specific color. A preview of the chosen color is also displayed below them. Once done, no respring is required for the changes to take place as it will be applied right away.
Fairydust is quite an interesting tweak and it will appeal to users who like to customize their iOS device. It works perfecly as advertised and if you’re interested to give it a try, it can be download for free via Cydia’s BigBoss repo. The tweak supports both iOS 7 as well as iOS 8 devices.
