How to fix ‘setreuid’ security flaw by manually upgrading to TaiG 2.2.1 Jailbreak

It was discovered recently that the TaiG jailbreak tool had a serious security flaw that could allow any app to gain root privileges. The TaiG team has just released an update to their TaiG Jailbreak tool as we;; as an update for the TaiG 8.1.3-8.X Untether pacakage to fix the ‘setreuid’ security flaw.

If you have already jailbroken your iOS 8.1.3 – iOS 8.4 device using TaiG, read on to find out how you can manually upgrade to the latest version of TaiG via Cydia.

How to fix ‘setreuid’ security flaw by manually upgrading to TaiG 2.2.1 Jailbreak

Step 1: Launch Cydia.

Step 2: Go to the Sources tab.

Step 3: Tap on Edit -> Add and type in the following URL: http://apt.taig.com.

Step 4: Press Add Source.

Step 5: Once TaiG’s source has been added, go to the Changes tab and you should see an upgrade labelled TaiG 8.1.3 – 8.x Untether. Tap on it to open.

Step 6: Install the upgrade and reboot your device.

That’s it! The TaiG jailbreak should be upgraded to 2.2.1 on your device to fix the ‘setreuid’ security flaw.
