We’ve already seen plenty of physical mockups of iPhone 6. We’ve seen it in silver, it has been compared to an iPhone 5s to give us an idea of how the larger iPhone will stack up against the 4-inch iPhone, and even compared to Samsung’s latest flagship Android phone, the Galaxy S5.
French site Nowhereelse.fr has published new photos of the iPhone 6 physical mockup, this time in space gray, the new color Apple had introduced with the launch of iPhone 5s. It is exactly like the previous mockups, so it does not reveal any new details. But it is most detailed physical mockup we’ve seen so far.
The physical mockup reveals the following details about the iPhone 6:
- It sports an ultra-thin design with rounded edges as opposed to the iPhone 5s’ chamfered edges.
- It has the power button to top right hand side of the device, which is in line with rumor that have indicated that Apple will be changing the position of the button for easier one-handed access on the larger iPhone.
- The model also has rectangular volume buttons on the left, and the camera and LED at the back. The LED is circular in shape and not elongated like the iPhone 5s. It could suggest that Apple has managed to make changes to the TrueTone flash, which was first introduced last year in iPhone 5s to make it circular.
- The mockup also suggests the iPhone 6 will sport a three-stage aluminum design on the back of the iPhone 6 with two antenna break cut out at the back of the device. This is also in line with rumors, which have indicated iPhone 6 may sport an all-aluminum back casing. Frankly, the black bands that seem to serve as separators for the three-stage aluminum back casing makes the device look quite ugly.
Apple is widely reported to be working on two variants of the iPhone 6 this year, with a thinner design, smaller bezels, rounded edges and more. The first variant will have a 4.7 inch display, and is expected to be launched this fall, but the larger 5.5-inch variant is facing yield issues, and is reportedly delayed.
iPhone 6 may also be powered by Apple’s new A8 processor with 1GB RAM, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an 8-megapixel camera with improved image stabilization (OIS). The iPhone 6 is expected to run iOS 8, which may feature a new apps such as Healthbook, TextEdit and Preview, improved Maps, inter-app communication capabilities and more.
