AppleCare+ has been a go-to option for many Apple device owners for many years, and this year saw a bit of a price hike for all of the iPhones in Apple’s lineup.

Specifically, as reported earlier this month, the AppleCare+ program now costs $129 for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7, which is a bit more than the original $99 it used to cost. Meanwhile, the Apple X AppleCare+ warranty program will run $199. As usual, AppleCare+ will still cover two screen replacements and two miscellaneous damage incidents.

For the screen replacements, that will cost $29 on the iPhone 8 (and older iPhones), for the first two, while damage incidents cost $99 for the first two. And while some had expected the back of the iPhone 8 to come around the same cost as the screen replacement, considering they are both glass, that is not the case.

AppleInsider has confirmed that the back glass falls under the “other damage” category for Apple, which means if you crack it, and need to get it replaced, it will cost the aforementioned $99. Keep in mind that it costs that much for two replacements. After that the price jumps up to $349 for the iPhone 8 and $399 for the iPhone 8 Plus.

AppleCare+ costs $129 for an iPhone 8 and $149 for the iPhone 8 Plus right out of the gate, and new phone buyers have six months to sign up for the program after their initial purchase.

While we know that the iPhone X’s AppleCare+ program will cost customers $199, there’s no word yet on what individual replacements will cost. Considering the price hike for older iPhones, it’s not impossible that Apple charges more than it does for the iPhone 8/8 Plus for iPhone X repairs.
