If you’ve been jailbreaking for quite a while, you should have come across tweaks that colorize notification banners based on the dominant color of their app icon along with similar tweaks that do it for the 3D Touch menu, the Now Playing interface in the Music app, as well as the notification badge on app icons. Now there’s another tweak that brings a similar concept to a part of iOS that was never done before.

Known as AppColorWidget, this jailbreak tweak colorizes widgets on your iPhone based on the dominant color of their app icon. For instance, the app icon of the News app is colored red, so the tweak applies this color to the app’s widget as well. Likewise, the Weather widget will be colored blue, Music widget will be light pink, Mail widget will be blue, and so on.

The tweak works with any app, whether it be a stock app or a third-party app downloaded from the App Store. All it does is that it takes the dominant color of an app’s icon and applies it to the app’s widget background.

The best thing about this tweak is that the widgets are colored in such a way that they blend nicely with the texts and buttons. Instead of using bold colors, the tweak goes for a lighter shade of the same color with a little transparency so that texts will still be readable.

Once you install AppColorWidget, you’re good to go. The tweak doesn’t even require any additional configuration. Simply open the Lock screen, Notification Center, or Spotlight where widgets are located and you’ll notice that they are now colored to match their app icon.

One of the benefits of having your widgets colored is that you can quickly differentiate them from one another. This is particular useful when you have added lots of widgets to your iPhone. With this tweak, you can easily spot widgets by their color rather than swiping through the entire list to find the one you’re looking for.

AppColorWidget is not available on any of the default Cydia repos. Instead, you have to add the developer’s repo which is available at http://ca13ra1.github.io/repo. Once you add this source to Cydia, you should be able to find and install the tweak. It is a free package and supports iOS 10.
