GLANCE

There are times when you have an amazing looking wallpaper set as your iPhone’s Home screen background but the app icons cover the picture and hide its important details. This is where a new jailbreak tweak called Glance by Ryan Petrich comes in to give you a better look at your Home screen wallpaper.

The tweak which is the first of its kind allows you to swipe up when you’re on the Home screen to hide all the app icons that are visible so that you can take a better glance at the background. To view the app icons again, all you have to do is to press the Home button once and all the app icons will be visible.

What I like mostly about this tweak is the subtle fade out and fade in animation effects that take place when you hide or unhide the app icons.

Glance is a beta jailbreak tweak that is not available on one of the default Cydia repositories. Users can give it a try by installing the tweak from the developer’s private repository which is available at the following URL: http://rpetri.ch/repo/.

One installed, you’re not required to perform any additional configuration. All you have to do is to perform a swipe up gesture on your Home screen to hide the app icons and press the Home button once to display them again.

Glance is an interesting tweak with a simple concept, that is to give you a better view of your Home screen wallpaper. I haven’t tested it with widgets that are displayed on the Home screen but it works well with app icons. You can give it a try for yourself and let us know in the comments section below.
