UrAvgConsumer took to the streets of New York City armed with a camera and an iPhone 6 mockup. He showed the slab to people on the street, asking them what they thought about the larger iPhone. It’s amusing to see how the average person on the street responded when they held the oversized device.
The reactions are a mix of good and bad with a lot of “Wows” thrown into the mix. My favorite comment was “It looks like a Samsung phone,” which is expected given Samsung’s reputation with its Galaxy Note series and its most recent Galaxy S5, both of which offer displays that are over 5-inches in size. A surprising number of people said they wouldn’t buy the larger phone, claiming the current 4-inch handset is the perfect size.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone6 this fall and is widely speculated to launch the device with a larger 4.7-inch display to compete with Android-powered smartphones that usually include larger screens. The next generation iPhone may feature a thin profile reminiscent of the iPod touch and a possible sapphire display. Under the hood, the iPhone 6 may include Apple’s new A8 processor with 1GB RAM, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an improved 8-megapixel camera with either electrical image stabilization (EIS) or optical image stabilization (OIS). The iPhone 6 likely will run iOS 8, which may include the new Healthbook app, improved Maps, and more.
