Review: The Mous ‘Limitless 3.0’ iPhone Card Wallet and Car Mount

Late last year I reviewed The Mous ‘Limitless 3.0’ iPhone Case/Wallet System, covering the wooden-backed indestructible case itself, the wallet accessory and the wall mount. All very impressive, and even more so now that I have the slimline card wallet in hand too, along with the rather superb car mount.

The idea behind the magnet-based system is that your iPhone tough case is kept attached to – and aligned with – whatever it’s needed with. Now, the wall mount is just for the kitchen, perhaps, the rather bulky wallet is for someone who needs to carry a truck load of cards and notes, but here I’m looking at going truly mobile.

The card wallet is very slim, minimalist with just two card slots, but adds relatively little bulk when needed, piggy-backing on your iPhone in its Mous protective case:

The smooth areas on the back include the patented magnet array and a central smooth area to ensure a good fit against a Mous iPhone case

Are two cards enough for you? If so, then this is a really interesting solution…

The card wallet is $40 and you’re certainly not paying for carrying capacity – you’re paying for the patented magnet alignment system, which stops the card wallet from being detached or even rotated on the case back. The leather is nicely done, but I’d take issue with Mous’s marketing, which claims that the card wallet doesn’t interfere with Qi charging – it most certainly does, there’s way too much gap from the cased phone to the charger. Maybe Mous meant that it doesn’t interfere with ‘NFC’, i.e. Apple Pay?

Even better is the Limitless 3.0 car mount, which has transformed my in-car phone use. You know the drill with car mounts, of course. Normally you put the phone in place, then squeeze together spring-loaded plastic arms in order to grip it, and then there’s a song and dance to release the phone afterwards. With an aligned, magnet-based solution, I can just place the Mous-cased iPhone on the mount and… it’s gripped and held securely (I tested it over speed bumps!)

The gel-back and suction system is pretty standard, but very solidly made and the mount hasn’t budged in a week of winter use here in the UK. It’s a piece of cake to place the iPhone and super-easy to remove it. Just grab the case and go. I love it.

Also $40, the Mous accessories aren’t the cheapest around, but the magnet system is nothing short of revolutionary and, provided you’re OK with committing to a Mous ‘Limitless 3.0’ case in the first place, you’re investing in a system which can genuinely make your phone lifestyle easier.
