SoundCloud has millions of users, as does Instagram. If you happen to find yourself in the intersection of both, then there is good news for folks who like to share music.
SoundCloud on Tuesday announced the ability to share music from the platform to Instagram Stories directly. The benefits here are definitely pretty obvious for the artists out there, especially indies who have growing follower counts on social networks like Instagram. Now when they release a new single they can share the track from SoundCloud directly to their Instagram Story, with a link to the song on SoundCloud so folks can download it.
Here’s how it works, as noted in SoundCloud’s announcement:
- 1. In the latest version of the SoundCloud app, find a track you want to share
- 2. Tap the share icon at the bottom of your screen
- 3. Tap the Instagram icon or select “Share to Instagram Stories” (depending on what phone you’re using)
- 4. Share the link with all your followers directly to your Instagram Story
The new feature is available now in the newest version of SoundCloud. You will also need the latest version of the Instagram app as well. Links to both apps are available below.
Our Take
This is one of those features that will probably go over well for folks who like to share music, whether they’re an artist themselves (indie or not) or just like to share what they’re listening to. It’s also good to see SoundCloud expanding its availability across apps. We saw these same features launch for Spotify not too long ago. And now that SoundCloud Go+ has high-quality audio, just another benefit to SoundCloud.
