If you may have noticed recently that when you refresh the newsfeed in the Facebook app, it makes a chirping sound effect along with the pull to refresh animation.

Facebook also seems to have added sound effects when you like posts, tap on a new tab etc. I’m not really sure when Facebook added it, but it looks like the feature was rolled out recently.

These sounds are useful for people with motor skill problems and visual & colour impairment. So while they may be annoying to some, they can be a boon for others.

If you want to turn off the in-app sounds in the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad, then there is an easy to turn them off. Here’s how:

  • Launch the Facebook app.
  • Tap on the More tab at the bottom right corner.
  • Scroll down and tap on Settings.

Facebook - In-app sound - Settings

  • Then tap on Sounds.

Facebook - In-app sound - Sounds

  • Tap on the toggle next to In-app Sound to turn it off.

Facebook - In-app sound

That’s it. You should no longer hear the sounds while using the Facebook app.
