Read receipt is a staple feature of many messaging apps nowadays including iMessage. With this feature enabled, recipients can view whether you’ve read their messages or not and at what time. With iOS 10, you can disable read receipts in iMessage temporarily, but this also prevents you from finding out whether someone has read your message.

Now a new jailbreak tweak known as Delay Read Receipts offers an interesting hack that allows users to send read receipts whenever they want.

With this tweak installed, read receipts will not be delivered to recipients until you’ve sent a reply or started typing it. This means that you can comfortably read messages without recipients finding out. Whenever you’re ready, you can start typing a reply or sending a message and the read receipt will then be delivered.

After you install the tweak, the first thing you have to do is to configure its behavior. Head to its preferences pane in Settings where you’ll find a killswitch toggle for enabling or disabling the tweak on demand along with an option to choose when to send read receipts. You can choose to either send read receipts whenever you start typing a reply or when it has been sent.

This is quite a useful tweak as it gives you time to read messages and think out a reply before sending it. With this tweak installed, you can still see your recipient’s read receipts, meaning that you can view whether they’ve read your messages or not.
