Here’s an interesting development. A new group of hackers called UnthreadedJB have just released a jailbreak for iOS 5.1 called UnthreadedJB.
The jailbreak is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1, which was released back in March 2012. It makes it the first jailbreak for it, as the Absinthe jailbreak was available for iOS 5.1.1.
It supports only the CDMA iPhone 4 currently and is available for Linux users. They have also published a YouTube to prove that their jailbreak works, and isn’t fake as some (including us) had speculated:

We haven’t tried it, but we’ve seen reports on Twitter which suggests that it indeed works.
I can confirm @UnthreadedJB works on Linux to jailbreak iPhone 4 CDMA, iOS 5.1. Not sure happy my dad will be I used his phone, but yolo

You can download the jailbreak by visiting UnthreadedJB’s team website.
While many of you may not see the point of releasing a jailbreak for iOS that was released more than a year ago, we think this is good news as it means there is another group of hackers who are working on jailbreaking iOS. Since evad3rs dev team has said they won’t be working on a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 (for newer devices) and iOS 6.1.4 (iPhone 5 only), it will be interesting to see if the UnthreadedJB team works on it.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as there are any further updates.
Thanks Tim for the tweak!
