AirSpeaker is a jailbreak tweak that allows users to leverage their iOS devices as an AirPlay speaker.

Those who like to listen to music, watch videos, and have a jailbroken iOS device should download AirSpeaker from Cydia. This jailbreak tweak allows users to use their iOS device as an AirPlay speaker just like other tweaks named shairport and AirPlayServer but with added features. It’s also useful for those who have an old iPhone/iPod dock or even for those who just have 3.5mm speakers but wish to add AirPlay capabilities.

AirSpeaker, not to be confused with AirFloat, runs as a daemon which is a system service. AirFloat however, runs as an app, which means users have to open up the app in order for it to work. AirSpeaker on the other hand, does not have an app icon because it isn’t an app. This makes  AirSpeaker much easier to use across a variety of different situations as those using AirFloat are limited to opening up the app for it to work. Once AirFloat users exit out of the app and multitask, it will stop working. On the otherhand, the limitation on AirFloat is exactly what the jailbreak tweak, AirSpeaker, opens up to the user. In this scenario, the only way AirSpeaker will stop broadcasting is if the device goes to sleep on battery power. If the device is on AC power, it can continue to broadcast unless told to otherwise stop.

This tweak currently works on older versions of iOS including iOS 5, 6, and 7 as well as iOS 8 and iOS 9 along with arm64 support. Users have the ability to configure a password from the preference pane, as well as change the speaker name from AirSpeaker’s preference pane.

Those of you interested in downloading the tweak will have to remember to add the following repo to your list:
