While the Photos app displays your pictures in collections sorted by date, you can also view them by location, which is not very obvious as it was in iOS 6.
You can spot your photos on a map to see where they were taken, adding another dimension to your digital memories. Here’s how you can find your photos by location.
- Launch Photos from your home screen to view images in your Camera Roll.
- By default, the Photos app shows you the Moments view, where your pictures are sorted by date. Tap Collections.
- You’ll now see your photos sorted by time periods and similar locations. For example, I’ve been in Bangalore for a month, so all the pictures I took during that time in that city are grouped into a single collection. The location is also mentioned above each collection — tap the location name.
- You’ll now see your photos stacked up on spots on a map. Pinch to zoom slowly and the piles will split into smaller piles on various locations, depending on where you’ve taken those pictures. Tap a stack to view pictures grouped by location.
And that’s it! You can use this method to relive your memories by where you remember them from, instead of when you may have taken pictures.
