Though there are tools and step-by-step guides that make it easy to jailbreak and unlock iPhone, things have got a lot more complicated and confusing with the release of iPhone OS 3.1.3 and updated boot ROM in new iPhone 3GS models.
iH8sn0w, developers of popular jailbreaking tool, Sn0wbreeze have recently released a tool called F0recast, which tries to answer some of the questions if you’re new to the jailbreaking and unlocking world.
F0recast is a nifty little tool that will check your iPhone or iPod Touch to find out if it can be jailbroken without tethering or not and whether your iPhone can be unlocked. If your iPhone cane be unlocked then it also tells you, which tool can be used to unlock the iPhone i.e. ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
F0recast also gives you information such as the serial number, baseband version, bootloader version and model number.
If you are an iPhone 3G user then it will also tell you if you have the bootloader to downgrade the baseband, so that you can unlock it. iPhone 3G who have bootloader 5.8 can downgrade their baseband using a GUI based easy-to-use tool called Fuzzy Downgrader.
It would have been nice if the tool could also tell users if their iPhone can be jailbroken or not.
F0recast is available only for Windows users and it supports all iPhone and iPod Touch models. The requirements for the application to run properly include .Net Frameworks 2.0 or higher, and iTunes 9.0 or higher.
You can download the latest version of F0recast for free from iH8sn0w’s website.
Drop us a line to let us know what you think about the tool if you check it out.
