The @Pwn20wnd team has updated unc0ver jailbreak to add support for iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 on A7-A11 devices. This means the tool is now capable of jailbreaking iPhones and iPads running iOS 12 – iOS 12.2.

The jailbreaking tool is using a new Sock Puppet exploit by @NedWilliamson to jailbreaking A7-A11 iPhones and iPad running iOS 12.1.2 – iOS 12.2. A7-A11 devices include the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 series. There’s no support for A12 devices which means the likes of iPhone XR, iPhone XS cannot be jailbroken using the tool.

Do note that despite claiming support for A7-A8 devices (iPhone 5s, iPhone 6/Plus) the exploit does not currently work on these devices. However, the exploit has been reported to work just fine albeit with reliability issues on A9-A11 devices.

Below is the change-log of Unc0ver v3.3.0~b1 and b2:

  • Add the Sock Puppet exploit for iOS 12.0-12.2 support on A7-A11 devices

  • Remove the empty_list and multi_path exploits

  • Replace the kernel exploit segmented switch with picker view

  • Add code substitution platform picker view

  • Fix all preferences being off by default

Apple is not signing iOS 12.2 so if your iPhone/iPad is running a higher version of iOS, there’s not much that you can do here.

If your iPhone or iPad is running a lower version of iOS and it is already jailbroken, you should stick to that setup and not bother with updating Unc0ver to the latest release. There might be some lingering issues with the latest release so it is better to hold off the update until a few more updates.

The Electra team has also confirmed that it will be updating Chimera to add support for jailbreaking iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2. However, just like Unc0ver, the support will be limited to A7-A11 devices like the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8.
