Apple could possibly name the iPhone XS Max successor as iPhone 11 Pro. The source of this leak has had a very accurate track record, though he does not clearly suggest that Apple will name the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 as the iPhone 11 Pro.
If Apple ends up naming the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 as iPhone 11 Pro, the regular variant would then simply be called 5.8-inch iPhone 11. As for the iPhone XR successor, Apple could call it the 2019 iPhone XR or simply the 2019 iPhone.
“Pro” for iPhone? Crazy naming schemes over the past few years.

Following the Pro naming scheme for the iPhone 11 lineup would definitely make a lot of sense as it would align perfectly with the product naming scheme that Apple follows for its other products. The company already has an iPad Pro and MacBook Pro lineup and the iPhone Pro name would fit right in.
By using the Pro naming for the 6.5-inch iPhone 11, Apple could add some improved multitasking features to it which would help distinguish itself from the 5.8-inch iPhone 11. This will also help the device live up to its Pro name.
There is also a possibility that we can see Apple adopt the Pro naming scheme for its 2020 iPhone lineup. That’s because the 2020 iPhones are shaping up to be a major upgrade with bigger screen sizes, 5G connectivity, ToF camera, and more.
The iPhone 11 lineup is going to get modest improvements this year. This includes a faster A13 Bionic chip, a triple-camera system, improved TrueDepth camera, bigger batteries, and reverse wireless charging.
