The Unc0ver team today released the first public jailbreak for A12 Bionic devices like the iPhone XS and iPhone XR running iOS 12.4. So far, while we had seen a jailbreak for iOS 12.4, it did not support the 2018 iPhones and iPads featuring an A12 Bionic chip.
Even the previous Unc0ver iOS 12 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak from the Unc0ver team lacked support for iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and the 2018 iPad Pro. Thankfully, after months of work, a complete rewrite of the jailbreak algorithm that does not involve PAC bypass or brute-forcing, the team has released an iOS 12.4 jailbreak for A12 Bionic devices.
Apart from the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR, the latest release of Unc0ver also supports the 2018 iPad Pro and the iPad mini 5 powered by an A12/X Bionic chip.
The Unc0ver team notes that the jailbreaking experience on A12 Bionic devices is better than older iPhones and iPads. The entire jailbreaking process itself is extremely quick and takes only around a second or two to complete. It is also extremely stable in nature and will not lead to any random shutdowns or bugs. The only issue is that the jailbroken device can take a bit longer than usual to shut down but that’s about it.
Another good news is that the complete redesign of Unc0ver will make it easier for the team to update the tool for newer devices and firmware. This should mean that once an exploit in iOS 13 is discovered for a possible jailbreak, the Unc0ver team can get around to updating their tool quickly to add support for it.

If you end up jailbreaking your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR running iOS 12.4 using Unc0ver, make sure to verify all the tweaks before you install them. That’s because not all of them have been updated with arm64e support while others would require one to add special repos to Cydia.
Sadly, if you have already updated your iPhone XS or iPhone XR to iOS 13, you cannot jailbreak it using Unc0ver. While you can downgrade back to iOS 12.4.1, that release is not compatible with Unc0ver.
