Checkra1n jailbreak

The checra1n team has released a new beta of their tool (v0.10.1) with a bunch of bug fixes and support for iOS 13.4 and iOS 13.4.1. The update also introduces a new version of the kernel patch finder which has been written from the ground up for better speed.

Apple released the iOS 13.4.1 update earlier this week with a fix for a FaceTime bug. Since checkra1n is based on the checkm8 bootrom exploit, it can work on the very latest version of iOS for selected devices. Below is the full change-log of checkra1n beta v0.10.1:

Bug fixes
  • Fixes support for A7 devices
  • Fixes an issue in 12.4 which caused the device to panic and reboot on attempted shutdown
  • Fixes an issue that caused the keychain to lose new passwords
  • Fixes an issue which caused the GUI/ncurses to crash when used more than once
  • Fixes an issue where a userspace reboot won’t restart dropbear
Other changes
  • Added 13.4 and 13.4.1 support
  • Introducing kernel patch finder v2 – rewritten from the ground up for sanic speed
  • You can now quit from the webra1n interface

If your iPhone is already jailbroken using checkra1n, you can update it to iOS 13.4 – iOS 13.4.1 first and then re-jailbreak it again using the latest version of checkra1n. iOS 13.4 was a relatively major update packing a number of new features and enhancements so iPhone users should definitely look into upgrading their device to it.

Do note that checkra1n only supports iPhone X and older devices. If you own a newer iPhone like the iPhone XS or iPhone 11/Pro, you will have to use Unc0ver to jailbreak it. However, the latter only supports iOS 13 – iOS 13.3 and it is unlikely to gain support for iOS 13.4+ anytime soon.
