Without undermining YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels has emerged as the most equipped alternative to TikTok. Featuring a ton of eye-catching effects, handy editing tools, and an ever-growing library of soundtracks, Reels has checked off all the boxes to attract both creators and lovers of lip-syncing videos. If you are fond of this video-sharing platform, chances are you wish to download Instagram Reels on your iPhone or Android device at some point. While there is no official way to download any Reel, you are not out of luck.
As for the requirements, it’s pretty minimal. You don’t have to download apps or pay anything to save your favorite Instagram Reels to your camera roll for offline viewing.
Step 1: First, open the Instagram app on your iPhone and then navigate to the Reel that you wish to download.
It’s worth pointing out that the steps are almost the same for iPhone and Android. So, irrespective of which platform you are on, you can breeze through the process without any hiccups.
Step 2: Tap the three-dot icon located at the bottom right-hand side corner of the screen.
Step 3: Next, choose Copy Link in the popup menu.
Step 4: Open a browser and head over to instadp.com.
Step 5: Now, tap Instagram Reels Downloader.
Step 6: Paste the Reels link and tap the Search button. If prompted, click the Continue option to proceed.
Step 7: Once your Reel is processed, tap the Download button.
Step 8: Now, the video will open in the browser. Tap the Share button and then choose Save to Files in the share sheet. After that, select the desired location where you want to save the Instagram Reel, and you are good to go!
Alternatively, you can use a Siri shortcut to download Instagram Reels, Stories, and more without ever leaving Safari. Download the Instagram Shortcut download from here and install it on your iPhone or iPad. After that, you can use the shortcut by tapping the 3-dot overflow menu button located at the bottom of a Reel followed by Share to and then select the Instagram Shortcut from the menu that pops up.
There you go! So, that’s how you can download any Reel on your iPhone or Android device. While I favor safeguarding a creator’s content, I think it would be better to allow users to easily download any video. A simple download button inside the menu (three-dot icon) would be appreciable.
Whenever I stumble upon fun Reels, I prefer to download them to a private album. I use that album when I don’t have access to the internet or wish to scroll through my favorite vertical videos without burning precious cellular data. What about you?
