Set to be released in 2017, the Unicode Consortium today proposed a list of emoji that can be included in Unicode 10. Apple is usually quick to add support for new emoji so once approved, we might see some of the proposed emoji coming to iOS.
In total, the Consortium has proposed 51 emoji. Keeping up with the trend and popularity, the emoji include vampire, zombie, genie, sandwich, broccoli, I love you hand sign, flying saucer, coconut, and more. You can find a complete list of the proposed emoji in Unicode 10 here.
The Consortium has also proposed changes to some of the existing emoji, including adding a new orange color to the heart emoji.
Unicode 10.0 will be released in mid-2017 so the final list of new emoji that will be added will be finalized by then. It is likely that we will see Apple debut these new emoji in iOS with the release of iOS 11.1 or 11.2 later in the year. Apple recently added support for Unicode 9 emoji with the iOS 10.2 beta which includes emoji like selfie, face palm, fox, bacon, and more.
