When you have a bunch of different apps installed on your iPhone, it can become a hefty task to keep them all up-to-date. Apple solved this problem by introducing a new feature in iOS 7 for automatically downloading and installing new app updates as they become available.
Having your iOS apps updated automatically is a nice feature as it saves the burden of keeping track of new app updates as they become available. Despite the benefits, one major drawback is that it can consume the monthly data allowance provided by your ISP or carrier.
Automatic app updates is enabled by default, but there is a way to disable it permanently. Here’s how to it on iPhone or iPad.
How to Disable Automatic App Updates on iPhone or iPad
Step 1: Open Settings.
Step 2: Tap on iTunes & App Store.
Step 3: Under Automatic Downloads section, you can manage the items that are downloaded automatically. Turn off the toggle for Updates.
Your iPhone will no longer download and install app updates automatically. This saves your cellular data bandwidth and allows you to keep track of the updates that you wish to download. You’ll have to go to the Updates section of the App Store to view all the latest updates that are yet to be installed.
